Immerse yourself in the celebratory spirit of Lausanne’s national festival through my video report of the 4th annual “1er Août People in the City”. Filmed, edited, and color-corrected by me, this visual narrative brings to life the event held for the first time on the Esplanade du Flon on 31st July. This much-cherished summer tradition has won the city’s heart with its festive and good-natured atmosphere.
The festival’s winning “food & pool” formula attracted a diverse crowd. Daytime was buzzing with the beats of open-air dance music, while a pool offered a refreshing escape for the festival-goers amid the warm summer heat. Further enhancing the lively mood were bars, food stalls, lounge chairs, and distinctive entertainment. This year’s focus was on early 20th-century circus performers, with jugglers and fortune tellers, creating a lively, carnival-like ambience.
The event was graced by internationally acclaimed artists such as Guy Gerber from Tel-Aviv, Soul Clap from Boston in a face-off with Wolf + Lamb from New York for a remarkable four-hour DJ set. Miguel Campbell from Leeds, Benoit & Sergio live from Berlin, and Eric Borgo from Lausanne added to the eclectic music landscape of the festival.
With safety being a top priority, over twenty security agents ensured the event progressed smoothly, keeping up with the flawless safety record established since its inception.
The “1er Août People in the City” festival, recognized nationally and nominated for the Swiss Nightlife Awards 2011 (Best Event category), is associated with the award-winning Attitude Nocturne (Swiss Nightlife Awards 2010/2011 winner, Best Event Series category for the Mad Attitude evenings at Mad de Lausanne).
My video report encapsulates the essence of the “1er Août People in the City” festival, celebrating Lausanne’s dynamic nightlife and sense of community through a unique medley of music, entertainment, and camaraderie.
